TOOLS

5 to 6 mm diameter 15.5 cm length straw (body),

A square cross section empty plastic bottle,

Rubber bands, A bamboo stick,

A paper clip, A bead

Carbonated drink plastic bottle, and Insulation tape

A ruler

A pair of scissors

A pair of pliers

Thin metal wire or string

A compass needle

 

Cut out upper and lower rotor from 1.5 litre square cross section plastic bottle. Right one is the upper and left one is the lower rotor. Length of the propellers is 14.5cm.

Make a hole in the middle of the rotors.

Widen the lower rotor hole with scissors.

Make the hole bigger allow inserting 15.5cm length straw.

Insert body straw into the hole, and then fix the straw with insulation tape strips.

Make a hole in the middle of the upper rotor then put through a hook shape clip wire with a plastic disc made from a carbonated plastic bottle and a bead like the photo 7. After that bend the clip wire with pliers like photo 8

Fix the clip wire on the upper rotor along photo 9 with pliers.

Make two V shape cuts on the lower end of the straw.

Use proper metal wire or string to pass rubber bands through the body.

Fix the rubber band with a short bamboo stick.

Hold the upper part of the body straw then wind up the rubber band turning the upper rotor clockwise with your finger at least fifty times.  After that hold the helicopter vertically and release it into the air gently.
